After the long months of winter, with spring comes the awakening of nature, including the maple trees (birch also) that offer sugar water. Being further north than Montreal, the "Maple Sugar Time" of Manawan is generally in April of each year, unlike the more southern regions who can start to gather water from the maple trees from mid-March.
