Enjoy a typical Native experience in a traditional site specially designed for you to fully immerse in the Atikamekw culture. We have set up a traditional Native site near Manawan in the wilderness on the Kempt Lake: Matakan. We invite you to experience a night in a teepee, authentic and memorable exchanges with nature and culture. This is truly responsible tourism. Montreal transfers available (3 h 30 min).

Monday-Wednesday-Friday

The meeting is at 4:30 pm in the community of Manawan in the Atikamekw Nation, located in a vast natural environment of over 2600 Natives. A unique opportunity to experience a fair and responsible tourism;

Meeting with Native guides and boat transfer (35 minutes) on the huge Kempt Lake (61 km long) to the traditional Matakan site. Installation in a teepee with fir branches and campfire. Dinner, installation of fishing nets and discussion around a campfire.

Moose meat dinner (pasta if vegetarian).

Tuesday - Thursday – Saturday

After a peaceful night in your teepee. Breakfast and lifting the nets in the company of your Native guides, introduction to canoe (2 people / canoe) around the site and interpretation (including historic petroglyphs on a cliff);

Hiking on a trail around the Island with interpretation of flora and fauna including medicinal plants;

Rabaska ride (minimum 6 persons) and swimming possible;

Demonstration workshop bark of crafts and Atikamekw language (depending on the weather);

Dinner with traditional menu (fish, banik, game, etc.) depending on the catch of the day;

Discussions around the campfire on the legends and history of Atikamekw.

Astronomical walk in darkness under a starry sky, canoe or Rabaska before returning to your teepee.

Wednesday - Friday – Sunday

After the night in the tepee, breakfast, return by motorboat to Manawan with stop-interpretation of beaver dams;

Arrival in the community of Manawan about 10 am;

Tour of the community (church, cemetery, community services, band council, etc.).

Goodbye to Native guides.

Adult: $ 440 CDN
Children (12 and -) with 2 adults: 50%.
Children (12 and -) accompanied by 1 adult: 75%.
